I bought a number of kits off eBay, including this TIE Interceptor kit by Fine Molds. The detail is remarkable considering the 1/72 scale. tie fighter
 Kit details...
Manufacturer: Fine Molds
Scale: 1/72
Parts: 64
Built: October 2007
Aftermarket kits: None
Add-ons: Laser guns at the front of the ship will be lit using fibre optic cable, plus a lighted cockpit

 Building the base stand...
For this model, I will be using a base supplied by The Modelbase. It is a base which has the design of the Empire logo engraved in it. It will be spray painted flat black with a silver Empire logo.
And here is the finished base. I used Flat Black and Flat Aluminium to give the base its final colour.
 Building the kit...
Here is a shot of some parts after I cut them loose from the plastic trees. These parts are up for a paint job.
I cut out the inner part of the round shield behind the cockpit seat and added a small red LED. This LED will later on also provide illumination for the laser guns at the front of the ship.

I added two fibre optic cables to the cockpit, making them run underneath the pilot seat. I also added a second red LED to light the two fibre optic cables. Here is a shot of the cabin lit up. Needless to say that the fibre cables need to be cut to the appropriate size.
I mixed the colours Medium Grey and Medium Blue together (1:1) to create a blue-grey-ish kind of colour. I spray painted the cockpit and the wings with this colour.
Today I glued the wings onto the body. One side had to be cut down a little to assure a perfect fit. On the overall, I must admit that Fine Molds makes a very fine TIE Interceptor kit when it comes to detail and fitting parts together.
With this model I decided to make an effort and try to get all the decals on it. I failed in doing so on my TIE Fighter and wanted to make up for it.

 Painting the model...
I used the following paints and colours on this model.

Tamiya Flat Black (colour number 81701)
Tamiya Dark Grey (colour number 81724)
Tamiya German Grey (colour number 81763)

I created a mixture of Tamiya Medium Grey (colour number 81720) and Tamiya Medium Blue (colour number 81718) to get a blue-grey-ish tone to use on the cockpit and wings.
 Overall experience...
The TIE Interceptor was a very nice kit to build. It is, as is the TIE Fighter by Fine Molds, very detailed.

I am very pleased with the way the base blue-grey-ish colour turned out. And of course, the fact that I managed to get all the decals on it.

All in all, another fine addition!
